After carefully considering your teacher’s feedback and grading, if you believe your assignment was graded unfairly, you may request a review of your work by following the ILC mark appeal process.
An OCT Certified Academic Officer will review and process the mark appeal, under the following conditions:
- The next “Assessment for Grading” in the course has not been submitted.
- The Final Test for the course has not been written.
- The reasons for the appeal are clearly stated. In the appeal form, you must specify exactly which questions, tasks, or sections of the assignment you are contesting, and explain in detail why you believe additional marks should be awarded for each item in reference to the assignment success criteria and the rubric.
- The assignment has not been previously appealed.
- Mark appeal has been submitted:
- For course work and culminating activities, within 14 days (2 weeks) from the date the mark is posted in the students’ Brightspace “Grades” page AND before the next assessment for Grading has been submitted or Final Test has been written.
- For Final Test marks, within 14 days (2 weeks) from the date the mark is posted on the students’ TVO ILC Dashboard (in the case of Final Test marks) AND before a transcript is requested.
Please understand that once an appeal has been processed:
- The mark resulting from the appeal may be higher or lower or the same as the original mark.
- The result of the appeal is final.
