I have data privacy concerns about ProctorU.

TVO ILC values your privacy. We understand some students have concerns related to ProctorU’s final test procedures, and we’d like to affirm that these procedures are necessary to upholding a high standard of academic integrity. Absolutely no student data will be collected or shared with third parties.

Please review this list of actions that ProctorU will and will not do as part of your final test experience:

  • ProctorU can’t access your files without your permission. Your proctor will ask for permission in order to secure the device you’re using for your final test, enter the test password and help you troubleshoot any technical issues if necessary. This access to your device is temporary and does not continue throughout the duration of the test. The chat window will indicate when remote access is enabled and disabled.
  • Your proctor will communicate their actions beforehand.
  • Proctors will check to ensure all non-essential programs on your device are closed. We recommend that students close all open files and programs prior to the start of their session.
  • Your proctor will also disable screenshots and change any display settings that do not meet security requirements.
  • You can see everything the proctor does on your device and can remove their access at any time.
  • The ProctorU application doesn’t give anyone else access to your device during the test, and it doesn’t affect the device after the test ends.

If you have any questions about the computer settings that may have been adjusted during your test session, view the resource below or reach out to ProctorU technical support.
